When anchoring, do not use too fast speed, but slowly put down the anchor. Too fast speed will cause the anchor and anchor chain to be hard to stop, which may damage the windlass, or even cause other serious consequences. The ship will continue to lay down a certain length of anchor chain, so that most of the anchor chains are laid flat on the seabed. At this time, move backward, drag the anchor chain back slightly, and anchor claw D will insert into the sand under the combined action of anchor body gravity and anchor chain tension.
At this time, the ship will slightly retract some anchor chains. Generally speaking, the length of anchor chain released should be 3-5 times of the water depth. If the anchor chain is too long, the turning range of the ship will be increased and it is easy to collide with other anchoring ships. If the anchor chain is too short, it is easy to pull the anchor body upward, making the anchor loose and losing the grip effect. After the anchor grasps the ground, it is equivalent to driving a pile. After the anchor chain is put down, it basically has only the tension level with the bottom material. In this angle, the anchor's grip is large.
When the anchor is hoisted, the ship moves forward and slowly retracts the anchor chain. When the anchor chain is close to the anchor, the anchor chain is straightened. At this time, point A of the anchor bolt will be lifted under the tension of the anchor chain. The anchor will take anchor crown B as the axis, use the lever principle to lift anchor claw D out of the bottom material, and then the ship continues to retract the anchor chain until the anchor is pulled out of the water surface.
